Outside Lands Festival: Silversun Pickups

Friday august 28th. The hottest day of the year in San Francisco! Everyone warned me in advance of how cold it gets in the city. I feared I would freeze! We started out mulling around the famed Haight-Ashbury district or The Haight as the locals refer to it. Soaking up the history of legends & hippies past… I felt at home!

A little gritty and dirty, yes… with painted, run down Victorians lining the streets, colorful murals & even more colorful characters all around. Just 2.25 miles through Golden Gate Park & we would be at our destination. This is what we were told by the friendly stranger who offered to sell us some.. um inspiration. No thanks lady! Toni is high on life! Hippies! Keep in mind, when I say “Hippies!”, in my mind, I say it in the voice of Eric Cartman from South Park. Hippies! Anyway, we were in town for day 1 of The Outside Lands Music Arts Festival! A 3 day environmentally conscious “Green” concert.

Finally, we arrive at the stage! Gearing up to see Silversun Pickups! I hadn’t seen any photos.. nor did I care. Me & Jack were already fans of the music having heard them before. We were anticipating good things!

Woohoo! Hello.. Hipster heaven & the voice of an angel! Flannel shirt / beard wearing, soft spoken cutie! (I suspect vegan)

Oh and yay! A female bassist. Very cool!

Talk about energetic! Playing their a$$e$ off! Dripping sweat! Can you say Swoon?

Interesting enough that is also the name of their new album.. you heard me! Swoon!

A pretty decent turn out. But still lots of breathing / picture taking room! The crowd was very relaxed and everyone was really enjoying themselves.
