Jimmy Gnecco: Ours, Yours or Mine?

A friend of mine recently turned me on to Jimmy Gnecco. When I first saw him, I’ll admit I was intrigued. “Who is this guy? And why haven’t I heard of him sooner?”, were my questions. He is the lead singer of a band called OURS and he has a solo album out now called “The Heart”. From what I surmised, he also has piercing blue eyes and the voice of an angel. That was all I needed to lure me to his recent live acoustic gig in NYC…
But the Jimmy Gnecco acoustic performance is an acoustic performance like no other. When I walked into the lil venue CultureFix on the lower east side of Manhattan, furious guitar riffs and primal screams were not exactly what I was expecting to hear. To say I was impressed would be a gross understatement. I was really blown away!

Intense, passionate, engaging and immensely talented are just a few things that come to mind. Listen for yourself… Soon You’ll Rest You’re Soul.

The back room of the venue where he played was just a little bigger than my living room. He was setup in a corner while everyone sat on benches and stood around him in a semi-circle. It almost felt like being in Sexy church… um.. is that wrong? Well, I don’t mean it to be. It was intimate yet moving is what I’m trying to convey.

The next song (video to the left) is called Bring You Home.. I haven’t been able to get it out of my head or out from under my skin since.

His vocal range is amazing, going from really deep at times to really high pitched. It has almost a haunting quality… and I was enjoying every minute of it.

What’s that Jimmy? You really want to bring me home?, you say.. C’mon Jimmy, not in front of the others.. you’re embarrassing me. 😉 Don’t worry.. nobody got too uncomfortable. LOL

There was also a fun jam session vibe happening as well! As he had the whole audience clap along to The Heart. (down below)

What’s that you’re singing now Jimmy? About my eyes? Aww shux… back atcha. 😉

Watch it and listen until the end. You can hear the girl behind me was practically moaning (she later asked him to sign her boob)… Awk-ward! Oh, relax.. I’m totally joking about the boob part.. well sort of. 😉

But in all seriousness, Jimmy Gnecco has an unassuming, sweet, demeanor. He’s a humble, creative soul, who is true to his art. He even mentioned how he wants his music to speak for itself.. only wanting his record label to use his bands logo rather than his face. But what he doesn’t realize is that once you hear the music.. whatever it was initially that might have reeled you in completely fades away, and all you have, need or want is just that… the music.

In my real life.. I’m hardly the girl to gush over anyone, especially to their face. What you get here is my raw inner dialogue. So let me say this.. I’ve seen many a handsome guy stand in a corner & sing with a guitar in the past.. and even the ones who were really singing their lyrics especially for me.. none have quite compared. So if you like what you see, I recommend getting to the next show or buying his album. Trust, you will be entertained.

You have said it all. I have said all the same since drunken lullabyes. He is amazing. His music purveys such feeling ,Dizzy Is the song I first fell in love with and I listen to every version. He amazes me. He seems to have such a sweet soul. I love Him more for always singing Ave Maria, He Did get the high note . Its a great video , everyone held their breath!!! I cannot say enough. Except. I always play his music for people who Never have heard it. and down to the last one they all ask(WHO IS THAT???!!!)
