Disappointed I was NOT! He came out dressed in a shirt and tie and a jacket but quickly stripped down to a more casual tee-shirt and jeans combo. It was odd seeing him that way, casual I mean, but he looked well. Thin, but not too thin. Healthy and happy. Frankly, it’s sad to say but based on his track record with addiction, I’m always worried that every show could potentially be the last.
He came out gunz a blazin’ to a somewhat punk version of Crackerman. And it was not just Scott that was on fire that night, the entire band had it together and was tighter than ever.
This run of shows were being billed as Scott Weiland’s “Greatest Hits“. He played a bunch of STP songs, some solo stuff, a few covers, and just one Velvet Revolver song. Although I have my own favorites that he didn’t play, (Sex Type Thing, Slither, to name a few), over all I was mostly happy with the set-list. I was ecstatic to hear him play Barbarella off of his very under rated 12 Bar Blues solo album, as well as his rendition of Jane’s Addiction’s, Mountain Song.
He sounded and moved all over the stage like a pro, regaling the audience by playing the theremin! Ok I’ll admit, I didn’t know what a theremin was either and was like WHAT is that? But it sounded really cool and was indeed a sight to see. (photo below) |

Watching him perform Unglued live that night & in the video to the right is enough to make an ordinary girl lose her mind!
He was out of control in a good way! And although I’m always kind when it comes to reviewing Scott Weiland and let’s be honest I’ve seen my share of less than perfect shows… This performance was one for the books. 🙂

After the show, by chance, I met Al, he’s the FOH or front of house, mixer/ engineer and all around go to guy for The Scott Weiland Band. And my personal paparazzi for the night…
Al: Wanna go upstairs and meet Scott?
Me: OK.
It was that simple… Wow, what bizarro universe is this? It’s like I had super powers or something? Should I assume he thought I was totally charming and adorable? Nah, definitely super powers! |

On the way, I stopped to say hi to Jeremy (Jeremy Brown, guitar). Last time we met, a few years ago, I was having a bad hair day and I wasn’t feeling like my normal quick witted self.. I was awkward and dorky. But this time was different, and he was as sweet as could be. We became fast friends. 🙂 Then I ran into Doug, (Doug Grean, guitar/ uber-Producer), we have been friendly for a few years now, ever since he recognized me from my blog. I was flattered to say the least. Awkward kiss and hug hello and a chat about the possibility of the impending apocalypse. Doug really gets me. Cool people often do. But onward we went up to the top floor to see Scott… |

What I unknowingly stumbled upon was a meet & greet, already in progress. Most of the fans had left except for a few stragglers and some pretty aggressive people jumping next to Scott for photo ops and this one guy who was explaining how “Big Bang Baby” saved his life and what not. I’m not nearly as pushy, so I just stood off to the side quietly taking it all in.
Next thing I know, I hear someone yelling, “Come here rabbit! Over here rabbit! Come take a picture with us rabbit!”
Me: Was I rabbit? ummm OK… :-/ *Confused*, I handed my camera to Al. I thought to myself, Rabbit? WTF? as they proceeded to make bunny ears over each others and my head. Are they making fun of me?, I asked myself?!?! For a few seconds, I was getting slightly pissed and upset. Is Scott Fuckin’ Weiland making fun of me??! 🙁 But then, I got a hold of myself and thought things through. Nahhhh! Me?? They couldn’t be!? I’m adorable, Damn it! They were being nice and jovial and joking with each other. So… I surmised, rabbit must be a good thing! I later asked Tommy, (Tommy Black, bass), “Why rabbit??”
Tommy: You’re cute like a rabbit… like a little bunny with all this energy, like a ball of fire! A rabbit!
Me: Ha, OK, I’ll take that! (whew! Thank God! Dodged a bullet there. Years of loyalty could’ve easily turned into “Fuck you, Fuck you, Fuck you, Scott Weiland!” Well, not out loud… but needless to say I would’ve been sad.)

But it’s not over yet… The next day, I got a text saying that, there would be a ticket waiting for me at the door of The Stone Pony, to come hang out.
Me: I dunno, I’m kinda tired and it’s a long drive.
Him: Doors @ 7, show 9/9:30 – your blog is called “Toni’s Night Out” NOT “Toni Stays Home” 😉
Me: That’s all I needed to hear, OK, see you there!
An invite and a free ticket? It seems, I really DO have Super Powers! |

And am I glad I went! This performance turned out to be even better than the NYC show. He sounded perfect tonight. Plus, he was giving me that look he gives me from the stage again. :O Not to mention, I think these shows were the first time they’ve ever played “First Kiss on Mars” live. Sweet!
Watch for yourselves! |

While on stage someone shouted out to Scott “Congratulations” He went on to say thank you and how he’s engaged to a great girl and that she was somewhere in the audience there tonight. Blah Blah Blah! I think I just went deaf? Just then, SOMEONE yelled “Sing your songs or shut up!”. Sigh, I don’t know what came over me? I’m not proud. 🙁 Anyway, all the people around me got real excited and started asking me if I was her? Meaning, “the fiance”. I just smiled and nodded to myself… Someday, Scott Weiland, someday… Anyway, like I said the show was fantastic! Enjoy Barbarella! 🙂 |

After the show, I was propositioned by a radio personality guy offering to make me a Star, ick, no thanks! In my entire life, I’ve never rolled my eyes at someone so hard! I have no desire to be famous. I’m always very flattered & humbled by Whatever recognition I get from writing this blog. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I do what I do for me and my love for live music & creative expression. Everyone else featured here, is just a side note. Just then, I was promptly rescued by my new friends in the band and we went backstage to hang out, everyone was warm and welcoming. No more awkward hugs. 🙂 My nickname of “Rabbit” continued to evolve as the night went on and somehow went from “Rabbit” to “Bunny” and later morphed into “Foxy Bunny”. “You’re like a hot foxy bunny. That’s it! You’re new name is FOXY BUNNY!” It has been declared. Foxy Bunny is my name, don’t wear it out, Bitchez. What? That’s right, I said it. 🙂 |

Somehow, little ole me, all by my lonesome, managed to infiltrate the Scott Weiland camp, invited and comped, got mistaken for his bride to be, obtained the coolest Rockstar/Superhero nickname all while making genuine friendships with some really wonderful people along the way.
So remember, whether in life, in love, or in music, always stay true (and loyal) to the things that make you feel alive. Trust in them and be open minded. Because super powers or not, you never know where the universe will guide you. Until next time. xoxo – Foxy Bunny |

Greetings “Rabbit” and what an interesting take on the recent Scott Weiland show. Sadly I had to admit that I was not as put over the top by it and was more let down than I was not. He sounded great as did the band but I was disappointed in the lack of actual hits in a “Greatest Hits” themed show. Maybe I was expecting too much because my photographer had a great time while I kept waiting for something that I expected to know right off the top of my head.
Very cool that you got to meet him and get comped for the following nights show, that is always awesome when a stroke of luck hits you especially with your being such a fan. Perhaps I shall cross paths with you during my own music reporting adventures while you do yours. Keep on rocking.
Thanks Ken! I agree with you about the setlist not being so much of a “Greatest Hits”… But for me, since I go see them as often as I can, I like to see the random not as well known songs. For me it’s a treat. No such thing as luck, If you read my other blogs, you’ll see that stuff like this happens to me all the time with very little effort on my part. You really can manifest whatever you want. 🙂 See you around! – Foxy Bunny
Hey there “Bunny” !
What a great chance you had there to spend some time with Scott and the band.
Im from Caracas, Venezuela and though ive been trying for the last 2 years to schedule a trip and attend ANY show involving Scott, it has been impossible. And wether its STP or Scott solo, when they tour South America they dont visit us here.
I wonder, what did you guys talk about? Did you also meet his fiance?
Hi Javier, yes, it was all very cool and they are all as sweet as pie. What a shame you haven’t gotten to see them yet! I hope my videos and my stories make you happy at least in the mean time! 🙂 I didn’t exactly “meet” the fiance… But she was there in my immediate vicinity. xo Foxy Bunny
